Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for Anchorage Service in person, the applicant has to make an application to the Port Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
2. The address and contact details of the Port offices can be found in the following contact link
3. Visit the office and obtain an application form for Anchorage Service from the relevant department.
4. Make sure that you have all the required documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Complete the application form as required with necessary information and attest with your signature.
6. Then, attach the documents required with the completed form proceed to submit it to the concerned official at the Office for further verification and application processing.
7. Also pay the required fees for the application process at the office as directed by the officials.
8. After submission, the application and accompanying documents are subsequently reviewed and verified.
9. On completion of all the processes, the applicant is issued with the approval for anchorage, through any applicable means.

Eligibility

Any Shipping Company/Agent in Nigeria that requires anchorage for its shipping vessel can apply.

Fees

Payable fees with respect to the type of vessel can be found below:

• FOREIGN FLAG VESSEL: 1 TO 30 LOA - USD 0.15 Per GRT/ Number of Days
• FOREIGN FLAG VESSEL: ABOVE 30 LOA - USD 0.19 Per GRT/ Number of Days
• TWA: 1 TO 30 LOA - USD 120 Per Number of Days
• TWA: ABOVE 30 LOA - USD 150 Per Number of Days
• NIGERIAN FLAG VESSEL: 1 TO 30 LOA - NGN 25,000 Per Number of Days
• NIGERIAN FLAG VESSEL: ABOVE 30 LOA - NGN 35,000 Per Number of Days

Validity

Instructions

• On Arrival of vessel, when there is No Berthing Prospect, the Master of Vessel notifies Port Control of proceeding to Anchorage Area to drop anchor.
• Anchorage position is communicated to the Signal Station for further directive from the Ship Agent.
• Due to low productivity at berth the vessel may be kicked out to Anchorage to allow another vessel to use berth.
