Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for getting an Aircraft Certificate of Airworthiness in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

  3. Visit the NCAA office and obtain an application form for the grant of an Aircraft Certificate of Airworthiness from the relevant department.
  4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attach the required documents with the completed form.
  6. Then, proceed to submit the application package at the Directorate of Airworthiness Standards (DAWS) in the office in person for further processes. Make the necessary payment as directed.
  7. After submission, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
  8. Before the issuance of the Certificate, the NCAA airworthiness inspectors will perform at operator’s expense, survey of the aircraft during annual and/or major checks and for official purposes.
  9. Also, the concerned compliance and approval documents will be put into audit by the inspectors during the inspection visit.
  10. With regards to Safety Oversight, the Nigerian Civil Aviations Authority shall notify the Civil Aviations Authority of the country of the applicant about the aircraft’s operation in Nigeria and the applicant/operator should make arrangements for the CAA’s to meet and enter into an agreement.
  11. After that, all the reportable defects will be notified to both the Aviation Authorities and the maintenance actions carried out with respect to the report must be sent immediately to the DAWS.
  12. Once all the processes got completed, the authorities will make necessary steps for the certificate issuance process.
