Procedure

Apply In Person:

1. To Apply for HVAC Contractor License, the applicant has to approach the Service Canada office link

   Note: Enter the address and the range of Km and click the “Find” button to check the nearest office.

2. Generally, the applicant will need to meet certain education and experience requirements to be eligible for an HVAC contractor license. This may involve completing a recognized HVAC apprenticeship program or obtaining relevant trade qualifications.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
7. Submit all the essential documents along with the completed application form to the office.
8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
10. Then the application will be processed further.
11. Depending on the jurisdiction, you may be required to pass an examination to demonstrate your knowledge and competence in HVAC systems and practices.
12. The regulatory authority will evaluate your application and supporting documents.
13. After reviewing the application, supporting documents, and examination results, if applicable, the regulatory authority will decide on the HVAC contractor license.
14. If approved, the applicant will be issued a license to work as an HVAC contractor in the respective province or territory
15. This entire process can be completed within 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
