Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a driver’s license in Canada the applicant will need to first get a Level 1 license.
    • The applicant will have to contact the office to book an appointment.
    • After passing this test, the applicant will have to book an appointment to check their vision.

    • The agent will check to see if the applicant has a good vision.
    • The applicant will have a photo taken.
    • The applicant’s documents will be verified.
    • If the applicant is under 19 years of age, they will need parental consent.
    • Once the applicant passes these tests, a level 1 license will be issued.
    • The applicant will receive a temporary license which they can use until the license card arrives by mail.
    • Once the applicant receives the license card, they will have to destroy the temporary license.
  2. The applicant will be eligible for a road test after 12 months, If the applicant has completed training at an authorized driving school, they can take the test after 8 months.
  3. Make an appointment.

  5. Pay the fee at least 24 hours before the test.
  6. On the day of the test, take this payment acknowledged receipt with you, to show.
  7. Show them your 5l permit.
  8. Valid vehicle registration documents.
  9. The applicant will be provided with information regarding safety that must be followed.
  10. The applicant’s vehicle will be inspected for mechanical fitness.
  11. The applicant must complete a parking test.
  12. The applicant will have to perform on the road test as per the instructions of the instructor.
  13. Once the applicant passes these tests, they can buy the license card.
  14. The applicant will be given a temporary license card until the card arrives through mail.
  15. Destroy the temporary card once the license card arrives through mail.

  1. The applicant can take the written test online.
  2. Visit the MyGovNL website.
  3. Here is the MyGovNL
  4. Create an account by clicking on “Create account”
  5. Enter details such as your “name”, “email ID” and “password”.
  6. A verification link will be sent to the registered mail ID.
  7. Click on the link to activate the account.
  8. Log in using the credentials.
  9. Click on “Take a learners permit test”.
  10. The applicant will have to link their MCP or vehicle registration number to take the test.
