Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Dietician License, the applicant has to approach the Dieticians of Canada link
- Graduation from an accredited dietetics program is a prerequisite for obtaining a dietician license in Canada.
- Ensure that you have completed an approved undergraduate or graduate program in dietetics or nutrition from a recognized institution.
- After completing your dietetics program, you will need to gain practical experience by completing an internship or practicum. The length and structure of these programs may vary depending on the province, but they typically involve supervised practice in various settings.
- The CDRE is a national examination administered by the Alliance of Canadian Dietetic Regulatory Bodies (Alliance). You must successfully pass this exam to become a registered dietician in Canada. The exam assesses your knowledge and skills in various areas of dietetics practice.
- Once you have successfully passed the CDRE, you can apply to the provincial regulatory body responsible for dietetics where you wish to practice.

- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Some provinces may require you to undergo a criminal record check or fulfill additional requirements related to language proficiency or professional liability insurance.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- For further process, the applicant has to follow the instruction given by the officer.
- This entire process can be completed within 3 - 4 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
