  1. To obtain a Broadcast License, the applicant will need to submit an application to Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Here is the contact Link
  2. The applicant will need to create an account with CRTC to submit an application form. Click on the following link to the login page: Link
  3. If the applicant has an account they can log in using a GCKey or sign-in partner login.
  4. If the applicant does not have an account follow these steps:
    • The applicant can select if they want to log in using GCKey or sign-in partner.
    • Click on the “Sign up” option. Accept the terms and conditions and click on “Next”.
    • Enter a username and password and click on “Next”.
    • The applicant will need to enter recovery questions and answers, click on “Next”.
    • Once this is done, click on “Continue”.
    • The applicant will need to request an activation code from the CRTC to activate their account.
    • The applicant will need to call the CRTC on any of the numbers provided under the “Office Locations and Contacts” section of this page.
    • Enter the activation code to activate the CRTC account.
  5. Once the applicant has logged in to their account, they will need to go to the applications section and select the application for the precise type of broadcasting license they need. Find further information under the “Instructions” section of this page.
  6. Fill out the application form with all the relevant details.
  7. The CRTC may call if they need further information.
  8. Once the application is reviewed, it is published in the local newspaper after 60 days and the public is invited to provide written comments about the application.
  9. Anyone who provided comments will be invited to the public hearing for additional information.
  10. If the application is approved, the new licensee is given one year to launch their service.
