New Zealand - Renew Driver Licence Endorsements
ProcedureEdit
- To renew your licence endorsement, you must apply at a driver licensing agent.
- Present or submit the following documents:
- Completed application form. A link to download the form is provided under 'Documents to Use' section.
- Evidence of your identity
- Proof that your eyesight meets the required standard
- Medical certificate (if required)
- Course certificate that is not more than 60 days old if renewing:
a D endorsement
P,V or I endorsements that have been expired for more than five years
- Have your photo and signature taken by the licensing agent.
- Pay the endorsement renewal application fees.
- You will be issued a temporary licence which is valid for 21 days. Bring it with you whenever you're driving until your new driver licence arrives in the mail - within two to three weeks.

Endorsements that expires with your licence: Forklift (F), roller (R), tracks (T) and wheels (W) endorsements expire at the same time as your driver licence, and are automatically renewed when you renew your driver licence. No need to make a separate application or pay a separate fee to renew them - provided theyve not been expired for more than five years.
Other driver's licence endorsements expires on different dates: D, P, V, I and O endorsements: The expiry dates of dangerous goods (D), passenger (P), vehicle recovery (V), driving instructor (I) and testing officer (O) endorsements may differ from your driver licence expiry. Expiry dates for these endorsement is listed on the back of your photo driver licence.
- P, V, I and O endorsements: Renew these endorsements at least eight weeks before they expire. You will receive notification about eight weeks before your endorsement is due to expire. If you've recently changed your address, you can update your record online - Link
- D endorsement: You will receive notification about eight weeks before your endorsement is due to expire. As stated above, if you've recently changed your address, you can update your record online - Link
You can renew your D, P, V, I and O endorsement at anytime.
If you renew your endorsement:
- more than 60 days before it is due to expire, the new endorsement will be valid for one or five years from the date your application was approved
- less than 60 days before it is due to expire, the new endorsement will be valid for one or five years from the expiry date of your current endorsement
- after it has expired, the new endorsement will be valid for one or five years from the date your application was approved
