Procedure

• Light goods vehicle means any goods carriage vehicle which can carry maximum weight of 3000 kilogram (Mini vans)
  
  

Apply in person

1. To apply for Light Goods Carriage vehicle Permit in New Delhi the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

3. Application form can be downloaded using the following link: Application forms And Parivahan Forms Link
   
4. Make sure you have completed respective application form that can be obtained from respective RTO
   
5. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
   
6. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
   
7. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   
8. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Weight bills, Body built arrangements, other mandatory requirements etc... Will be carried by authorities.
   
9. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.

Required Documents

1. Respective application form for permit. Application forms can be obtained from respective RTO
   
2. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
   
3. Fitness Certificate of the vehicle.
   
4. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
   
5. Insurance Certificate.
   
6. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
   
7. Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
   
8. Passport size photo-2
   
9. Weight bill of the vehicle
   
10. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
    
11. Pollution under control certificate
    
12. PROOF OF ADDRESS (any one of the following to be produced)

Validity

• Permit is usually valid for 5 years
  
• The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
  
• The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit
  

NOTE: Validity differs with the type of vehicle and also for the load the vehicle can manage

Need for the Document

• A Regional Transport Authority may, on an application made to it under Rule 174 (iv) of the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 grant a goods carriage permit to be valid throughout the State
  
• The Light goods vehicle permit is required for the vehicle owner to use the vehicle for commercial purpose transporting goods of manufacturer, Raw material for production.
  
• The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.

• Gross weight bill should be provided for the permit.
  
• FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
