InstructionsEdit

Certified copy

A copy of the certificate comes with a stamp and a signature from the Registry Office. This is also known as a certified, official or authenticated copy.

Copy in another language

A copy of the divorce certificate is only available in Dutch. If you need a copy in another language, and your record is kept by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, then you can request an international extract of the marriage certificate, which also states the date of the divorce. The extract contains only the personal details found in the certificate.

Notes:

  • You can only request a copy of your divorce certificate or the international extract of the marriage certificate in The Hague if the wedding took place in The Hague.
  • If you were married abroad but you got divorced in the Netherlands, you can request a copy of the divorce certificate or the international extract from the Registry Office. This is only possible if you have had the marriage registered with the Registry Office of the Municipality of The Hague (Afdeling Landelijke Taken).
  • For those who are married abroad but got divorced in the Netherlands and did not have the marriage registered with the Registry Office, then you can only request a copy of the divorce certificate. An international extract is not possible.
