If the Secretary for Security and Justice approves the change of name, the family name is changed by Royal Decree. A few weeks after this decision you receive an official extract thereof. Justis also sends an extract from the registrar of your birth town, for a subsequent record "in the birth certificate. Hence the name change is official.

You must pass on to businesses and other organizations that your name has been changed. Near the town you can ask for whatever government it is. In addition, you must have your official documents (such as passport and driving license) replaced as soon as possible. On the basis of the Passport is your passport at the time that your name has been changed no longer valid.
