Netherlands - Apply for Caribbean Visa

- Schedule an Appointment: All applicants must apply in person at a Dutch mission to confirm identity. This also applies to minor children. An appointment is required for all offices, book an appointment online through - dutchappointments.com.
- To apply for a Caribbean visa, you will need to complete a visa application form for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean. A link is provided under "Documents to Use" section which you can use to download the form. Note: Do not sign the form yet, you must do it in front of the consular officer.
- You must submit the completed form to a Dutch embassy or consulate in your country.
- Pay the visa application fee. Note: This does not automatically mean that you will granted a visa.
- Visa applications are usually processed within a week. The Dutch mission in your country can inform you about processing times.
- If you are refused a visa for the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom, a letter will be sent to you stating the reason why. The letter will also say whether you can lodge an objection and, if so, how. If your application is refused, the visa application fee will not be refunded by the embassy or consulate.

Required DocumentsEdit
- Completed Caribbean Visa Application Form - you must sign the form in front of the consular officer.
- Passport or official travel document recognized by the Netherlands, with a validity that exceeds the intended stay by at least 3 months. Make sure that the passport has a blank page specifically assigned to visa. While your visa application is in process, you will submit your passport. In case you want confirmation that your passport is temporary in our possession, you can submit an extra copy of the holder page of your passport which can be stamped by us copy conform original. This is free of charge. The stamped copy will be returned to you.
In case a minor is traveling alone or with one parent only, the following documents must be submittted:- copy birth certificate
- copy ID of both parents
- letter(s) stating the consent of both parents that the minor is traveling
- (if applicable) court order that states the parent has sole custody
- Proof of legal status in the country of application (e.g. valid visa, residence permit, passport)
- Visa, residence permit, or passport to enter the next country after visiting the Caribbean.
- One recent passport picture (no more than 6 months old) according to the Dutch passport photo requirements. You are encouraged to have your picture taken by a recommended photographer.
- Proof that you can proceed to the next country after you have visited the islands, i.e. confirmed itinerary / airline reservation or airline ticket and required visa. When you bring a confirmed itinerary / airline reservation at the time of your visa application, the actual airline ticket has be shown once your visa has been approved. Important: if you are not sure that your visa will be approved, do not buy an airline ticket yet, bring a confirmed airline reservation which can be cancelled or itinerary.
- Proof of sufficient funds for your intended stay: 3 recent monthly bank statements or signed travelers checks. Bank statements must show the name and address of owner(s). Electronic print outs are accepted. US$50 to $200 per day of stay.
- Employment verification, stating: position, duration of employment, monthly income, and approved period of leave (students: proof of school registration). If you are self-employed a business license and tax return forms are required.
- Travel medical insurance: You must provide an official letter in your name from your travel insurance company stating only the following criteria:
- It is valid throughout the islands.
- It is valid during the entire period that you will be on the respective island.
- The coverage is at least 15.000.
- The coverage includes repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical care and/or emergency hospital treatment or death.
- Note: If your own medical insurance does not provide this letter you can purchase a travel medical insurance through the internet.
- Proof establishing the purpose of your trip:
- When visiting relatives or friends, you will need to submit an official invitation letter issued and certified by a City Hall on the respective island and a copy of the relatives' or friends' Dutch passport or valid Dutch residence card. If they are paying for your expenses proof of financial means is required from your reference person on the respective island (3 recent monthly salary statements and 3 recent monthly bank statements).
- For tourism, submit confirmed hotel reservations, stating name, address and telephone number of the hotel, including confirmation number and/or proof of group travel participation, etc.
- If the purpose of your trip is business, please present a letter of support/invitation from the company concerned in the Netherlands and a letter from your employer here, stating your position within the company and the reason for your business travel to the respective island. Either letter should clarify who is responsible for expenses and where you will be staying (such as hotel reservations).
- Current non-refundable Caribbean visa handling fee: Payment is required at the time of application in local currency. All offices accept cash. Personal checks are NOT accepted anywhere.
All US and Canadian offices now accept Visa & Master Card.
Notes:
- Original documents and a copy of each document must be submitted. If you do not submit copies your original documents will not be returned. Make sure to have your documents copied before you go for your scheduled appointment.
- The consular office do not arrange shipping your passport back to you. To have your passport returned by mail: Please read all the mailing instructions and submit a prepaid self-addressed (preferably computer generated) label.
- The Consular Department may request to submit additional documents. Submitting the aforementioned documents does not guarantee automatic issuance of the visa.

EligibilityEdit
Unless your nationality is on the list of countries whose nationals do not require a Caribbean visa, you will need a Caribbean visa for a short stay in one of the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom. - Link
FeesEdit
The application fee for a Caribbean visa is 35. There is no charge for visas for children aged five and under.
ValidityEdit
A standard Caribbean visa is valid for six months and can be used for multiple entries. You can stay in one of the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom for up to 30 days maximum each time you enter that part of the Kingdom. If you want to visit several Caribbean parts of the Kingdom (for instance on an island-hopping holiday), you will not be permitted to stay longer than 90 calendar days over a period of one year. You could, for instance, stay in Aruba for 30 days, in Curaao for 21 days, in Bonaire for 21 days and in St Maarten for 18 days a total trip of 90 days.
Please note: your Caribbean visa is not valid for travel to Schengen.
Extension of Visa
If you want to stay in the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom for longer than 90 days, you will need to apply for a residence and/or work permit for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean in advance.
A Caribbean visa is usually valid for all the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom:
They are as follows:
- Aruba
- Curaao
- St Maarten
- Caribbean Netherlands Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba
If the Caribbean visa is territorially limited, it will be valid only in some Caribbean parts of the Kingdom. This means that you will be unable to enter some of the parts for reasons of national security, public order or public health.

Processing TimeEdit
It will take about 15 calendar days to process your application for a Caribbean visa, but may take considerably longer if additional documents are required. It will be wise to submit your application well before your intended travel date.

When you must submit your application: Visa applications cannot be submitted more than three (3) months before the intended travel date. All visa applicants are required to book an appointment. Check link to schedule an appointment - Dutch Appointments . The applicant can either pick up the passport with visa in person or have it sent back by courier. The RSO is not liable for loss or damage during shipment.

Need for the DocumentEdit
You may need a Caribbean visa if you are planning of staying in the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom (formerly known as the Netherlands Antilles). This visa is valid in Aruba, Curaao, St Maarten, and the Caribbean Netherlands (Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba). If you are Dutch you will not need a Caribbean visa if you are staying in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
