Procedure

Apply In Person:

1. You have to approach the Department of Transport Management in your local area to renew your driver's license. You can find the address locations near your area under the heading Office Locations & Contacts on this page. You should be there around 10 am in the morning. Or check the following link – link
2. You have to get one slip from the counter that is next to the entrance gate. A driver's license renewal slip. It cost 38 rupees.
3. Attach your driver's license to the slip and staple it.
4. Next you have to stand in the queue at counter number 11. Here you give in your slip and attached license. The officers will verify your records and give you a printed form with all your personal details. You will also be given another slip with a token number.
5. After this you will be told to go inside and wait in a small hall. The screen in the room shows the counter numbers alongside token numbers. Wait till your token number is shown on the screen.
6. Go to the denoted counter number. Here, you give in your documents. They'll verify your name, and ask you for your mobile number. They'll also take your picture with a webcam, take your bio-metrics, and your digital signature.
7. Next you will have to approach the Medical test booth. Here you will be tested for color blindness, you could take a sample color blindness test using the following: Colour Blindness Test Link.
8. As a next step you will go to the desk next to the medical booth so that the officer can mark your information in the computer
9. You will then be told to go outside and line up for the final document verification. Where you hand in the documents and the officer gives them back to you after verifying them.
10. You will then have to go to another window and submit your documents.
11. Finally, go to the neighboring window. They will call your name and you have to pay a fee which depends upon the license that you are renewing.
12. After the fee payment you will be provided with a printed form where you have to check whether all the information presented in the form is correct.
13. You will be given a pink slip and a green slip, it is like proof of your license renewal in Nepal.
14. Keep the slips safe since you will need them when you come to collect your new license.

Required Documents

• An expired driving license.
• 2 Passport and 1 Auto Size photograph. The recommended dimension for the small photograph is 2 cm X 2cm.

(optional)

• An attested photocopy of Nepali citizenship. Behind the photocopy and sign.
• Photocopy of the expired license. Paste a Rs. 10 stamps on it.
• Stationery items. Pen, Glue, Stapler, and even a stamp pad if possible.

Eligibility

All Nepalese Citizens with a valid license can renew. Possess an expired driving license from Nepal Government.

Fees

Rs. 1500 for A) Motorcycle, Scooter, and Moped renewal.
Rs 200 for Small vehicles.

Fines If your license has been expired for more than 3 months expect fines. Fines can be as high as 500% You can If it has expired for more than 3 months expect fines

Processing Time
