Mozambique - Apply for a Work Permit

1.You should start by obtaining a certificate of equivalence and this is obtained from the Ministry of Education:
- Therefore you should write an application for a certificate of equivalence and submit it to the Ministry with all your academic documents;
- When the Ministry receives the documents, they are examined and assessed to verify their correspondence with the required qualification for the post the you are to take on;
- If documents are approved, the certificate of equivalence shall be issued to you by the ministry of education;
2.Thereafter, proceed with obtaining Work Authorization from to work in Mozambique fromthe Ministry of Labour.
- In this case, write an application for authorization and submit it to the National Institute of Labour and Employment where the employing company is located or submit it to the Provincial Delegations in the city of Maputo;
- When application is received, the application shall be examined and after assessing if all requirements have been met, application is approved and authorization is issued by the Ministry of Labour;
3.After you have received authorization from the Ministry of Labour, you can now go ahead and apply for the work permit.
- In this case, identify an issuing diplomatic mission (Mozambican embassies, high commissions and consulate offices) abroad;
- Go to the identified agency above obtain a work permit application form and fill it carefully and accurately;
- Then submitted the filled form with all the necessary documents to the identified agency;
- When the agency receives the application, documents are assessed and if approved, upon receiving authorization from the Immigration Service, a work permit is issued

1.A work permit must be obtained before traveling to Mozambique;
2.Recruitment of an applicant must be approved by the Employment Centre of the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training before he / she applies for a work permit;
3.Applicants must also ensure that his / her academic documents are approved by the Ministry of education;
4.Applications may be submitted to Mozambican diplomatic missions in foreign countries;
5.An applicant can contact a local lawyer, consulting firm, or individual familiar with the process to help in the process of obtaining a work permit;
6.Applicants are argued to apply for a permit as soon as possible at least thirty (30) days prior to travel date;
7.An applicant must submit application on a prescribed form;
8.Applications must be submitted in person;
9.Ensure that all documents submitted are in Portuguese;
10.Documents not in Portuguese must be translated and certified as true copies;

Work permit is a legal authorization given to a foreign national to enable him / her take on employment in a given country. Work permits in Mozambique are issued by the government through Immigration Service through Mozambican Diplomatic Missions (Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates) in foreign countries with assistance from a number of other government ministries which include the Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Education.
