Mozambique - Apply for Dual Citizenship
ProcedureEdit
1.You start by locating a nearby Provincial Immigration Service (Servios Provinciais de Migrao). These are usually located in provincial capitals and at international borders and are the local representatives of the authority responsible for immigration issues (the Ministry of Interior);
2.When you locate the most appropriate Provincial Immigration Service, goes with all the necessary documents and submit application for citizenship;
3.After submitting ensure that acknowledgement of receipt of application is issued; and
4.Thereafter wait for a given period of time (as may be advised by the immigration office) for the application to be assessed

i)Dual citizenship is only accept for a child born to a Namibian citizen abroad to acquires citizenship of the country of birth up to the time when he / she makes eighteen (18) years;
ii)Other Eligibility requirements based on type of citizenship
1.Citizenship by marriage a foreigner married to a Mozambique national
2.Citizenship by naturalization a foreigner aged eighteen (18) years and above residing in Mozambique;
3.Citizenship by adoption a child fully adopted by a Mozambican;
4.Citizenship by affiliation unmarried children of a citizen who acquired citizenship by naturalization below eighteen (18) years
5.By Birth this is two way (Consanguineous and Territorial):
6.Consanguineous a child born to a Mozambique Citizen, either father, mother or both
7.Territorial a child born in Mozambique

1.At the age of eighteen (18) a child with dual citizenship must choose one or else Mozambican citizenship is revoked by authority;
2.Applicants must be aware that Mozambique does not recognize dual citizenship;
3.Applicants must be ready to abide by rules and regulations of the country;
4.All Applicants must be of good character
5.Applicant apply for naturalization must have stayed in Mozambique for continuous a period of not less than ten years
6.To apply for citizenship by marriage, marriage must have been in existence for a period of not less than five (5) years;
7.Applicants doe naturalization must be involved in the Mozambique community and know either Portuguese or any other Mozambican language;
8.An applicant for naturalization must have the capacity to sustain him / herself;
9.Some of the requirements may be waived if an applicant is of value or has rendered valuable services to the country;
10.Applicants must declare that they wish to acquire Mozambique citizenship;

Dual citizenship refers to the process of being a citizen of a given country alongside another countrys citizenship. Dual citizenship in Mozambique refers to holding a foreign citizenship alongside the Mozambique citizenship. Dual citizenship is only accepted for a child born abroad to Mozambique citizen(s) who acquire citizenship of another country by birth up to the time when he / she makes eighteen (18) years. At the age of eighteen (18), the child must choose one citizenship. On the other hand Mozambique citizenship can be acquired by birth, marriage, blood relation, naturalization and adoption, the Ministry of the Interior is the government institution responsible for immigration-related issues.

1.In cases where a citizen loses his / her Mozambican citizenship, he / she can reacquire upon application after meeting all the necessary requirements as specified by the law;
2.It is important to note that a foreign national after fulfilling the requirements can acquire Mozambique nationality and a Mozambican citizen can acquire foreign nationality without both categories renouncing their original nationality provided that all requirements as prescribed in the law are fulfilled and after acceptance that while in Mozambique, only one citizenship (Mozambique citizenship) shall be used and recognized;
