Required Documents

Choice of name for a child born of unknown parents or father

• a medical certificate or certificate of the midwife or an administrative certificate from the local authority

Choice of name for the person who is not subject to the rules of civil status

• a written statement stating the desired name
• the presentation of a certificate of "Naquib of Chorfas" or adoulaire instrument evidencing membership is required (if the name is Sharif)

Instructions

Choice of name for a child born of unknown parents or father

• The choice of name must meet certain criteria, including correspondence on behalf of the rest of the paternal family and respect the laws in force in Morocco in the choice of names and surnames.
• The name chosen must not undermine the public and religious order. Other documents are required in the case of choice of name for a child born of unknown parents or father.
• It can be applied at the office of Vital birthplace.

Choice of name for the person who is not subject to the rules of civil status

• The choice of name for the person who is not subject to the rules of civil status through the opinion of the High Commission of the Civil Registry.
• At the end of each month, the Bureau of Vital address requests to the Ministry of Interior so they are submitted to the High Commission of the Civil Registry. The Committee examines the validity of the chosen names and forms an opinion considered irrevocable. The name and accepted, shall become final and binding on the person and his descendants.
• Any name change can only be made ??by decree of the Prime Minister.
• It can be applied at the registry office of the place of residence.
