ProcedureEdit

  1. Couples who are intending to get married, are required to publish marriage banns at least 3 months before their target date marriage date. Contact your local parish to know more about marriage banns.
  2. The officiating minister where the banns have been duly published will issued a certificate of the banns. You will need to present the certificate when you apply for a marriage licence later on.
  3. Applicants will need to go the Office of the Registrar - General to obtain a marriage licence. They will need to complete and submit an application together with documents that will prove that they are legally free to get married and of legal age and proof of identity.
  4. After the marriage licence is issued, the couple must submit a notice of marriage. Twenty-one days after the notice was entered in the Registrar's Book and no objection was filed, the Registrar will issue a certificate of notice. The couple may now proceed with the marriage solemnization and celebration.
