Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Pet Passport (Dog, Cat, etc), the applicant has to approach Ministry of Foreign Affairs link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the authorized officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form (Incomplete application forms are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. Once the applicant’s pet passport is issued and his/her pet meets all health requirements, the applicant can travel with his/her pet within the EU and certain approved non-EU countries.
  12. For further process, the applicant has to follow the instruction given by the officer.
  13. The processing time for this procedure takes up to 2 months.

EligibilityEdit

The applicant is eligible to apply for a pet passport for his/her dog, cat, or ferret in Montenegro. To be eligible, his/her pet must:

  • Be microchipped with a 15-digit ISO compliant microchip.
  • Be vaccinated against rabies.
  • Have a valid health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of travel.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • A pet passport is an international document that allows the applicant’s dog, cat, or ferret to travel with him/her to other countries. It is issued by the Veterinary Directorate of Montenegro and contains information about his/her pet, such as its microchip number, vaccination status, and health condition.

  • If the applicant is bringing his/her pet to Montenegro from a country that is not considered to be a high-rabies country, he/she will need to provide a valid health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of travel.
