Mongolia - Obtain a Birth Certificate
ProcedureEdit
- Births are registered at state registration offices within 15 days at the central settlements, and within 30 days at remote soum and bagh. After a birth is registered, a certificate is issued. In cases where the original certificate was damaged or lost, you may be able to request for a certified copy of the certificate by going to your local registration office.
- When you submit your request at the Registry Office make sure that you have provided these important details which will make searching for the record easier:
- Correct name (as given at the time of birth)
- Date of birth
- Parents' name
- Pay for the certificate.
- You will be informed by the Registrar about when can you collect your certificate.
If you are outside Mongolia
You can request for a copy of a birth certificate by going to the nearest consular service office of Mongolia.

- If you are unable to obtain the certificate yourself:
- Written Proxy Statement
- Your Identity card or a copy of your identity card
- The identity card of the person (must be an adult) who will be applying for the procedure on your behalf

Established on 23 November, 1940, by the resolution No. 44 of the Ministerial Council of the People’s Republic of Mongolia the State Registration office provides public service on state Civil registration, Property right’s registration Legal entitles registration and Intellectual property rights registration to public and business organization and citizens.
Consulate and Diplomatic Representative offices in overseas provided registration services accordance with the law.

A Birth Certificate states the name and sex of a person, it also indicate the time and place of birth, it is issued after you have registered the birth of a child.
A copy of the birth certificate is often necessary when you apply for administrative procedures, such as getting a passport, a driver license or a marriage license.
