ProcedureEdit

  1. Choose a school for your child. You may enrol your child under a state-run school, a private school under contract or a private school. You may also educate your child at home, subject to the terms and checks set out in Article 5 of Act no. 1.334 of 12 July 2007 concerning education. In the state sector, the school your child will attend depends on the geographical area see map in which you live. If you would like your child to attend a school in a different area, you should send a letter to the Department of Education, Youth and Sport before 15th June, requesting an area exemption. While awaiting for a reply, you must enrol your child in the school in your area.
  2. To be able to enrol your child or children in a primary school, you will need to fill up the enrolment form which can be downloaded online or obtained from the school in your area during enrolment periods, or from the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, outside enrolment periods.
  3. Gather all the documents you will need to register your child in a primary school.
  4. Once you have completed the enrolment form, submit it along with all other required documents. Registrations will be taken in the schools secretary's offices, and please remember that registration are done BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and during official enrolment periods only.
  5. The child would have to take a test in cases where the child's mother tongue is a language other than French or the child was previously enrolled in a private school that was not under contract. In both cases, the Department of Education, Youth and Sport will send you the contact details of the Head of the school. You can then arrange a meeting with the school officials, and set a date when your child may take the test.
