ProcedureEdit

  1. Go to the county clerk office.
  2. Present and submit documents required.
  3. Complete the application form.
  4. Pay the marriage license fee.

EligibilityEdit

  • Both applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • For one or both applicants who are 16 and 17 years old, parents or guardians must be present for consent.
  • For one or both applicants who are younger than 15 years old, a court order granting permission to obtain a marriage license is required.



FeesEdit

  • For Michigan residents: $20
  • For Michigan non-residents: $30



ValidityEdit

The marriage license is valid anywhere in the state for 33 days.

  • Residents need to apply for their marriage license in the county in which one of them lives. But, you can get married any place in Michigan.
  • Non-residents need to apply for their marriage license in the county where they plan on getting married.
  • A witness is required who needs to be at least 18 years of age.
