Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The applicant has to reach out to USDA-accredited certifying agent for the application. Contact details are mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page. Or use the following Contact Link
2. An Application form is also available in the following Link
3. Applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
4. Applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting.
5. The fee for this procedure has been mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
6. The farm or business adopts organic methods, chooses a USDA-accredited certifying agent, and sends the certifying agent an application and payment.
7. The certifying agent examines the application to ensure that the procedures adhere to USDA organic guidelines.
8. An on-site inspection of the applicant's operation is conducted by an inspector.
9. The certifying agent looks over the application and the inspector's report to see if the applicant follows USDA organic rules.
10. Organic certificates are issued by the certifying agent.
11. For the past three years, any area utilised to generate raw organic commodities must have been free of prohibited chemicals.
12. Until the entire 36-month transition period has been completed.

Need for the Document

• Organic products can be exported and sold in the United States of America under the National Organic Program (NOP) (USA).
• It certifies agricultural and zoo technical products, processed human and animal food (excluding aquaculture products), agricultural technical means, and cosmetic items.
