Mexico - Obtain Certificate of Mexican Nationality by Birth

ProcedureEdit

  1. Gather all documents you will need submit or present to apply for the procedure.
  2. Fill out an application form.
  3. Submit the completed form along with all other required documents.
  4. Pay the application fee.
  5. It will take about a day for the certificate to be issued for the first time. If you are trying to obtain a copy of the certificate, it will take about 15 days for you application to be processed.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Completed application form
  • Certified copy of birth certificate issued by the Mexican civil registry office.
  • For applicants born abroad: he/she shall present a certified copy of a birth certificate issued by the consulates or the consular section of the diplomatic representations of Mexico abroad or certified copy issued by the office of the Mexican civil registry inserting your foreign birth certificate. You must also submit a certified copy of birth certificate or copy of the certificate or declaration of Mexican nationality of both parents.
  • For children of naturalized Mexicans: submit a copy of the naturalization document of the parent, if they were naturalized before the birth of the person concerned.
  • For births register a year after the birth of the child: the applicant shall submit any of the following documents:
    • Certified copy of the marriage certificate of the parents issued by the Mexican civil registry office, if they were married in national territory and before the birth of the applicant.
    • Certified copy of a birth certificate issued by the older brother of Mexican civil registry office, if born in national territory and was recorded within the first year of age.
    • Certified copy of the birth certificate of the father or mother Mexican issued by the Mexican civil registry office, registration for the first year of age.
    • Certificate issued by the immigration authorities, the date of entry into the country of foreign father or mother, if this occurred before the date of birth of the person concerned.
    • Notarial collation of religious affiliation
  • Original and photocopy of a valid ID
  • Two passport sized coloured photographs of the applicant (4.5 x 3.5 cm), white background, front view, without glasses, uncovered, recent and not previously taken with more than thirty days head,.
  • Proof of payment the application fee

  • Issuance of copies of the certificate or declaration of Mexican nationality: $ 16.00
