Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for a Recycling License, the applicant has to approach the Municipal government link Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources link
  2. Register your recycling business as a legal entity with the appropriate Mexican authorities. This typically involves registering with the Secretaría de Economía (Secretary of Economy) and obtaining a tax identification number (RFC) from the Servicio de Administración Tributaria (Tax Administration Service).
  3. Conduct an environmental impact assessment to evaluate the potential impact of your recycling operations on the environment.
  4. This assessment may include an evaluation of your waste management processes, recycling techniques, and disposal methods.
  5. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  6. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  7. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  8. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  9. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  10. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  11. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  12. Then the application will be processed further.
  13. Expect inspections by regulatory authorities to verify that your recycling operations meet the required standards.
  14. They will assess factors such as facility conditions, waste handling procedures, and compliance with environmental regulations. If your operations pass inspection, you may receive the necessary approvals to operate as a licensed recycler.
  15. Once you obtain a recycling license, it is important to comply with ongoing reporting and compliance requirements.
  16. This may include submitting regular reports on your recycling activities, maintaining proper waste management records, and adhering to environmental regulations.
  17. This entire process can be completed within 2 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
