Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Pharmacy License, the applicant has to approach the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks link
2. Obtain a pharmacy degree from a recognized and accredited educational institution in Mexico.
3. The degree should comply with the requirements set by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) and the General Health Law (Ley General de Salud).
4. Complete an internship or social service program at a registered pharmacy or healthcare facility.
5. This practical training is typically a requirement for obtaining a pharmacy license in Mexico. The duration of the internship may vary depending on the state or institution.
6. After completing the degree and internship, the applicant will need to pass the National Exam for Pharmacist Professionals (Examen Nacional para Aspirantes a Residencias en Farmacia) administered by the National Association of Schools and Faculties of Pharmacy (ANFECEF).
7. This exam evaluates your knowledge and competencies in pharmacy practice.
8. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
9. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
10. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
11. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
12. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
13. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
14. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
15. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
16. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
17. If the application is approved, the applicant will be issued a pharmacy license. The license allows the applicant to legally practice as a pharmacist in Mexico.
18. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
