Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Insurance License, the applicant has to approach the Comisión Nacional de Seguros y Fianzas (CNSF) link
  2. Depending on the type of insurance license you are applying for, you may need to complete certain education or training programs. This could involve attending insurance courses or workshops offered by authorized institutions. The training requirements vary based on the lines of insurance you intend to sell.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  9. The CNSF or the relevant authority will conduct a background check and evaluate your application. This may include verifying your qualifications, conducting interviews, and reviewing your financial and criminal history.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  12. In some cases, you may need to pass an examination to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations, products, and practices. The examination format and content will depend on the type of insurance license you are applying for.
  13. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  14. If your application is approved, you will receive your insurance license from the CNSF or the state insurance department. This license authorizes you to sell insurance products within the specified lines of insurance.
  15. This entire process can be completed within 15 – 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
