Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Firearm Dealer License, the applicant has to approach the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional link
  2. Before proceeding with the application, it is crucial to thoroughly understand the firearm laws and regulations in Mexico.
  3. This includes the specific requirements for obtaining a Firearm Dealer License, as well as any restrictions or limitations that may apply.
  4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  9. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  12. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  13. Be prepared to undergo background checks and interviews as part of the application process. The licensing authority may conduct thorough investigations into your background, including criminal records, before granting the license.
  14. Obtain any required training and certifications specified by the licensing authority. This may include completing courses on firearm safety and responsible firearm handling.
  15. The officer will conduct inspections of your premises to assess compliance with regulations. They will evaluate the documentation, security measures, and other factors before deciding on your application.
  16. If your application is approved, the licensing authority will issue a Firearm Dealer License, authorizing you to engage in firearm sales and related activities. The license will specify the conditions and limitations of your dealership.
  17. This entire process can be completed within 15 – 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
