Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Commercial Driver License, the applicant has to approach the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes. link
- Enrol in a recognized driving school that offers training for commercial driving. The school will provide you with the necessary instruction and guidance to prepare for the commercial driver's license exam.
- After completing the required training, you will need to take a written exam on road safety regulations and commercial driving practices. You will also need to pass a practical driving test to demonstrate your skills in operating commercial vehicles.
- Once you have successfully passed the exams, visit the local Transit Authority or the Dirección General de Autotransporte Federal (DGAF) office to apply for your Commercial Driver's License.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The applicant has to complete the medical test and biometric process.
- Once your application is approved, you will be issued your Commercial Driver's License, which allows you to legally drive commercial vehicles in Mexico.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
