Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Airline Transport Pilot License, the applicant has to approach the Federal Civil Aviation Agency link
  2. Before applying, the applicant has to complete the course which is related to the airline transport pilot.
  3. Obtain a First-Class Medical Certificate from an aviation medical examiner approved by the Mexican aviation authorities. This certificate confirms that you meet the medical standards necessary for a commercial pilot.
  4. Accumulate the required flight hours. The exact number of flight hours required for an ATPL can vary, but it is generally significantly higher than the hours required for a CPL. You'll need flight time in various categories, including multi-engine and turbine aircraft.
  5. Successfully complete theoretical knowledge exams, which cover subjects such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, air law, meteorology, and navigation.
  6. Pass a practical flight test conducted by a designated pilot examiner or authorized flight instructor. This test evaluates your flying skills and ability to handle complex aircraft.
  7. Demonstrate proficiency in both English and Spanish languages, as required for communication in international airspace and with Mexican air traffic control.
  8. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  9. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  10. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  11. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  12. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  13. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  14. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  15. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  16. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  17. If your application is approved, you will be issued an Airline Transport Pilot License, allowing you to operate as a pilot-in-command on commercial aircraft in airline operations.
  18. This entire process can be completed within 15 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
