To provide financial support to the poor widows of India, the widow pension scheme was introduced in India. A widow whose household is below the poverty line is eligible to get the benefits of pension scheme.
Apply In-Person through Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

  1. To apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, visit the Information & Public Relations Department.

  3. Get the application form from the Concerned Officer or write it on an A4 sheet.
  4. Fill the application form with all the necessary details.
  5. Attach all the Required Documents as mentioned in the Required Documents section along with the form and submit it to the concerned officer in the Information & Public Relations Department.
  6. Pay the appropriate fees as per authorities quote.
  7. You will be given an acknowledgement keep it safe for future reference.
  8. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
  9. If sanctioned, beneficiary shall be issued a Pension Passbook.



Apply Through CSC Centre

  1. To Apply Widow Pension, the applicant has to approach respective “CSC” centre link
    • NOTE: The applicant has to select state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
  2. Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
  3. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
  4. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  5. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
  6. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
  7. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
  8. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
  9. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
  10. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will decide on the issuance of the family card.
  11. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.
  12. If approved, the ration card will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per the applicable norms within 60 days or as per the timeline advised.

  • BPL Status Certificate (verifiable through Ration card)

    • PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department

EligibilityEdit

For widows the age limit of 58 years.

Eligibility to apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

  • The applicant must be from BPL category (with a valid BPL id)
  • The applicant must be a widow.
  • Widow between 40-79 years of age and the ceiling for assistance is Rs.500 per month per beneficiary.
