Meghalaya - Apply for Social Security Old Age Pension Scheme

Apply In-Person:
- In order to apply for Social Security Old Age Pension (Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension) scheme, the applicant has to approach their concerned Block Development Office / Municipal Corporation / Municipality / Panchayat office / District Social Welfare Office where the applicant resides as appropriate.
- Contact link AND the applicant shall also enquire at the local panchayat office to apply for the incentive Link for contact details in the given page, select the district name from the list to reach next page. In the given page please select menu “ABOUT DISTRICT” > “Who’s Who” OR “DIRECTORY > PUBLIC UTILITIES > Municipalities” for contact details AND Panchayat contact link in the given page please select the hyperlink against the respective state as per requirement for contact details.
- Please visit the respective office. Please consult with the concerned authority at the office to find the right office to apply for the scheme. Go to the respective office. Consult with the designated authority about the applying procedure for this scheme. Collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
- Complete the application form. Attach the document as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority as advised.
- After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place the application will be accepted.
- Please find the fee details provided under the “Fees” section of this page.
- The authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer.*Acknowledgement receipt will be given against every form received. So, collect it and please keep it safe for future reference.
- Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the scheme.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile.
- This application will be processed further. Concerned authorities will verify the applicant’s details and documents. If required, the authorities will visit the applicant’s place as per the address provided on the application form to make field verification.
- After verification, these applications will be sent to the respective sanctioning department with the consent of the verification authorities.
- Concerned sanctioning authority will take the right decision against the appeal.
- The status, viz. Approval or Rejection, if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS”.
- The entire process can be completed within 45 days of receipt of application. Once approved, the pensioner will be eligible to get the pension from the first week of next month onwards (or as per sanctioned period) Based on the availability of funds.
- For any updates and clarification, the applicant shall revisit the office where they applied.
- Note:
- Old age pension scheme is determined in different schemes as named by the respective state social welfare / revenue department as appropriate.
- The local administrative department must identify and provide old aged pensions to eligible beneficiaries.
- Applicant has to bring original documents to the applying office while applying for cross verification purpose and scanning, if required.
- Eligible pension amount fixed by the Government from time to time shall be sent to the beneficiary through bank account / post office account / money order / distributed personally as per the applicable norms of the respective state.
- Old age pension scheme is determined in different schemes as named by the respective state social welfare / revenue department as appropriate.
Apply Through CSC Centre
- To Apply Social Security Old Age Pension Scheme, the applicant has to approach respective “CSC” centre link
- NOTE: The applicant has to select state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
- Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
- If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
- Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
- The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
- Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
- This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
- The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
- Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will decide on the issuance of the family card.
- The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.
- If approved, the ration card will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per the applicable norms within 60 days or as per the timeline advised.

EligibilityEdit
- Applicant should be citizen of India.
- Applicant must be a permanent Resident of the respective State (Or as per the time period fixed by the respective state).
- No person shall be eligible for the pension, if the person applied for any other Social Welfare pensions.
- Age should be 60 (or the age limit as fixed by the respective state) and above.
- The applicant should fall under Below Poverty Line (BPL).
- Applicant should not be a recipient of salary / pension / family pension from Central Government / other State Governments.
- Any person receiving pension from any Government or Local/ Statutory Body or from any organization substantially financed by any Government or Local/ Statutory Body will not be eligible to apply for this scheme.

- The monthly pension - Rs 200 (or the amount fixed by the respective state) for persons between 60 years and 79 years of age will be provided.
- For persons who are 80 years and above the pension is Rs 500 (or the amount fixed by the respective state) per month.
- Without cross signature on photograph and signature on the undertaking, the application will be rejected.
- Do not submit fake documents as proof to obtain this certificate.
- Incomplete application will be rejected.
- Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
- Applicant will be penalized if any information provided by the applicant while applying for this scheme is being found false or incorrect.
