Apply In Person

  1. To Registration as an Insolvency Practitioner in person, the applicant should contact the Corporate and business registration department in Mauritius. Contact link

  3. The applicant should carefully review the form, fill in all the required details accurately, and submit it to the specified address, ensuring that all the documents listed in the form are included in the package.
  4. Along with the form, applicants should attach a copy of the Certificate of Registration issued by the Insolvency Regulatory Authority of Mauritius or any other Insolvency Regulator in the country of their origin and they can be found under the “Required Document” section of this page.
  5. The applicant should also attach a certificate of good standing issued by the Insolvency Regulatory Authority or any other Insolvency Regulator in the country of their origin.
  6. The Applicant may be required to appear before the Authorities to provide further information and/or answer queries related to the application to ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and that all relevant regulations have been adhered to.
  7. The applicant should also submit a declaration form attesting that they are not ineligible or disqualified from registering as an Insolvency Practitioner as per the guidelines provided by the relevant regulatory body.
  8. Upon submission of the application form, the applicant should also pay the required fee for the registration to receive a confirmation letter from the Corporate and Business Registration Department, as per the authority’s request.
  9. After thoroughly assessing the application, The Board will then review the data and decide as to whether to grant the registration.
  10. If the registration is approved, the applicant will be issued with an Insolvency Practitioner Certificate of Registration, thus allowing them to officially practice as an Insolvency Practitioner in accordance with the Insolvency Act.
  11. The processing time for registration as an Insolvency Practitioner depends on the specific circumstances of the applicant, but the average time is approximately one to two months.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible for registration as an insolvency practitioner, an individual must:

  • be a Mauritian citizen;
  • have attained the age of 21 years;
  • have a good character;
  • have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in insolvency-related matters;
  • have satisfactory academic qualifications;
  • have sufficient financial resources;
  • have the necessary professional indemnity insurance cover;
  • be a member of an approved professional body;
  • have completed an approved training programme in insolvency-related matters.
