Apply In Person
- To apply for the registration of a Minor’s Citizenship in Mauritius, the applicant who is parent or guardian of the Minor should make the application to the Secretary for Home Affairs at Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Please view the PMO contact details in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section below.
- Visit the Prime Minister’s Office and obtain the application form for Registration as a Citizen of Mauritius at the Citizenship Section of the Prime Minister's Office or download the form directly through this Application for Registration as a Citizen of Mauritius.
- The applicant should then complete the application form accurately. Note that the declaration section should be completed in Mauritius in the presence of a Judge or the Master and Registrar of the Supreme Court or a District Magistrate, before submission of the application.
- Upon completing the application form, the applicant should prepare all the required supporting documents as instructed in the application form or as mentioned in the required documents section below and attach the documents to the filled-in application form in a single file.
- The applicant should then visit the Prime Minister's Office and pay the non-refundable of Rs.2000 at the cash desk section of the PMO and obtain the payment receipt.
- Then the applicant should submit the application file along with the payment receipt to the official at the Citizenship section.
- The official will verify the application and check if all the required documents are provided by the applicant.
- After the verification process, the official at the citizenship section will issue the application an acknowledgment receipt with details of the application.
- The application file will then be forward to the minister’s office for assessment.
- The application will be evaluated and if it meets the required merits for registration, the minister will approve the application.
- Upon approval, the applicant will be informed in writing and required to pay the registration fee at the Prime Minister’s Office.
- The applicant should then visit the PMO and pay the registration fee of Rs.20,000 at the cash desk section and obtain the payment receipt.
- Thereafter the registration certificate will be processed and issued to the applicant within one week.
- Note:
- If the application is not approved, the applicant will be informed in writing and notified of the reason/s for not approving the application by the minister.

- Full/Unabridged Birth certificate of the minor child (duly apostilled if the child was born abroad).
- Full/Unabridged Birth certificates of parents or guardians (duly apostilled).
- Marriage certificate of parents (if applicable, duly apostilled if marriage was celebrated abroad).
- Mauritius National Identity Card and Passport of Mauritian parent/s.
- First five pages of minor’s passport (passport valid for at least 6 months).
- The certificate of registration or naturalization of the child’s parent, if the latter is a Mauritian citizen by registration or naturalization.
- Residence permit of minor in Mauritius.
- Attestation letter from minor’s school in Mauritius.
- The certificate of foreign nationality of the child’s parent (if applicable).
- Photocopies of References’ Mauritius National Identity Card.

EligibilityEdit
- Minors who wish to be Mauritius Citizens are eligible to apply. However, the application should be made by the parent/s or legal guardians of the applicant.
FeesEdit
- The application fee is Rs. 2000. Note that this fee is non-refundable.
- The registration is Rs. 20,000. Note that the fee is paid upon approval of the application.
ValidityEdit
- The citizenship registration is valid forever unless the registration is nullified by a court of law.

- Father’s /mothers’ full names in his country of birth
- Place of birth
- If living, state present address and nationality or citizenship
- If dead, state place and date of death and nationality or citizenship at the time of death
- Declaration by the minor, parent, or guardian
