Customer’s subscribers with the Central Water Authority (CWA) Mauritius,upon receiving monthly Water and sewage bill for service rendered by the company are required to pay for their Water bill in time through the following methods of payment. How to apply

Cash Payment at the CWA

  1. Visit any Central Water Authority (CWA) Mauritius branch office nearby from 8.45 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. on weekdays with the water bill invoice and the amount to be paid indicated on the invoice
  2. Approach the payment services counter and submit the invoice bill and the recommended amount in cash to the attending official.
  3. Who will verify the amount to be paid through their computer system and if the amount is in order, he/she will clear your bill and issue you a receipt confirming the payment immediately.



Payment through Other cash office

  1. Alternatively Customers may also pay their water bills, by cash/cheque, at the counters of the Central Electricity Board to the following office branch
  2. La Mivoie branch office (Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8.45 am to 3.15 pm)
  3. Helvétia branch office (Tuesday, Thursday 8.45 am to 3.15 pm)
  4. Bramsthan/Flacq/Mahebourg branch offices (Thursday 8.45 am to 3.15 pm)
  5. Or by Mauritius Post Ltd branches offices located countrywide from 8.30 am to 3.15 pm Weekdays, 8.30 am to 11.00 am Saturday.



Payment by cheque

  1. You can pay your bill to CWA by check. To do this, simply complete the check and indicate on the back of the check your telephone contact and address.
  2. You must then put the check and photocopies of the relevant invoices in the check box located at your CWA branch office.
  3. You must return to the branch within 48 hours to collect your payment receipt.
  4. Please note: Cheques sent through the post should be made payable to the Central Water Authority and CROSSED and must be addressed to the Senior Cashier of the CWA Head Office, St. Paul, Phoenix or the Cash Offices of any CWA branch.



Payment through Direct Debit System

  1. Customers can make payment with the following local commercial banks (list below) by the Direct Debit System.

Payment by Electronic method The CWA has partnered with other private payment service entities that offer online payment method and easy access, In order to improve the quality of service to customers and the efficiency of bill payment 24/7 regardless of geographic location. Such entities include SBM BILL PAY, ORANGE MONEY and EMTEL MOBILE CASH.

IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS.

  • The CWA shall ensure that each customer receives his monthly water bill within the stipulated time, with proper indication of the due date, the amount charged and the amount of surcharge payable in case of late payment.
  • The entire bill must be paid within 21 days of the date of receipt of the bill, any payment made after 21 days will carry a 10% surcharge. Pensioners are allowed a further 14 days to pay their bills without surcharge.
  • Customers facing financial problems, and those who come from the vulnerable groups of society, are also offered certain facilities to pay their bills by instalments.
  • If a water bill is not paid within 60 days of its date of delivery, the water supply is likely to be disconnected without notice.
  • Customers seeking information on their account or on water supply generally should address themselves to an officer of the appropriate Customer Service Centre, or phone the Hot Line telephone number 170.
  • Payment effected by dud cheque (chèque sans provision) may result in the disconnection of the supply and subsequent prosecution.
  • Customers who fail to receive their bill for any current month should inform the appropriate Customer Service Centre without delay or phone the Hot Line telephone number 170.
  • Every customer is provided with a meter, which is read on a monthly basis. The customer is billed according to the consumption recorded by the meter.
