Apply In-Person:

  1. To Obtain an Import Permit or License for Cats in person, the applicant should contact Mauritius Agricultural Services. Contact link
  2. Applicants should obtain the application form from the authority.
  3. The applicant will need to fill in all the information such as the type of live animal, the purpose of import, the origin of the animal, the destination of the animal, and required health and safety measures for transport in the application form.
  4. The applicant will also need to provide copies of valid documents such as a valid import permit from the exporting country, an import license from the Mauritius Ministry of Health and Quality of Life, a certificate of health from the exporting country, and they can be found under the ‘Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant will also need to submit an application for an import permit to the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life and attach supporting documents. The application must include a full description of the live animals, their origin, destination, and the purpose of their importation.
  6. Applicants should submit the form along with the necessary documents to the relevant authority in Mauritius.
  7. There is no fee for obtaining an import permit or license for live animals’ day-old chicks in Mauritius.
  8. Once all the documents and applications are submitted, the Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security will review the application.
  9. If the application is approved, a permit or license will be issued, allowing the import of live animals into Mauritius.
  10. Generally, the process should take around 10-15 working days from the date of submission.

  2. The applicant should legibly complete the application form as required.
  3. Once the form is accurately completed, the applicant should gather and prepare all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the application form in a single file.
  4. There is no fee for obtaining an import permit or license for live animal's day-old chicks in Mauritius.
  5. Then the applicant should submit the application file to the official via email - [email protected].
  6. The official will verify the application and check if all the required documents are provided by the applicant.
  7. Once the application is verified, the applicant will be issued the application acknowledgment receipt.
  8. Then the permit or license application will be forwarded for processing to the authority.
  9. Then the applicant should visit the post office on the date mentioned in the acknowledgment receipt and obtain the permit or license.
