Mauritius - How to Register Your Business or Incorporate Your Company

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Register Your Business or Incorporate Your Company in Mauritius, the applicant will need to go through the Registrar of Companies Division link
  2. Choosing a business name is the first step for an applicant to start a business in Mauritius. The name should be unique and should not be similar to any existing business name in Mauritius.
  3. After the name is chosen, the applicant should obtain the necessary approvals from the Registrar of Companies.
  4. This involves submitting the application form with the related documents, such as a copy of the proposed company’s memorandum and articles of association.
  5. Then the company must be registered with the Registrar of Companies in Mauritius by submitting the registration documents and paying the applicable registration fees.
  6. Once the company has been registered, the applicant should open a corporate bank account in Mauritius by submitting a copy of the registration certificate and board of directors' resolution to the bank.
  7. Then the company must obtain a Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the Mauritius Revenue Authority by submitting the necessary documents, such as a copy of the registration certificate, the memorandum and articles of association, the address of the registered office, the names of the shareholders and directors, etc.
  8. The company must also obtain a Trading License from the Board of Investment. This is done by submitting the necessary documents, such as the registration certificate, memorandum and articles of association, the address of the registered office, the names of the shareholders and directors, etc.
  9. Additionally, it must register for Value Added Tax (VAT) with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, again providing the relevant documents.
  10. Once the above steps have been completed, the company may then proceed with the incorporation process.
  11. This involves submitting the Articles of Association to the Registrar of Companies along with the prescribed fee, the Memorandum of Association, the certificate of incorporation, the certificate of commencement of business, and the certificate of registration.
  12. The Registrar of Companies will then issue the certificate of incorporation and the company will be incorporated.
  13. Generally, it can take anywhere from one to three weeks for the application to be processed and approved.


Apply Online:

  1. Applicant must go to the Official Business Registration Portal of the Corporate and Business Registration Department at link
  2. For online incorporation applicant must register with the Mauritius Network Services (our online service provider) on the following link
  3. Then the applicant will see the login options at the top right of the page.
  4. Once the applicant is on the login page, he/she will need to enter username and password.
  5. After the applicant has successfully logged in, he/she will be able to access and manage their company's registration information.
  6. Then the applicant in the home page, he/she will need to select "Application for incorporation of a company "from the list of options.
  7. Then the applicant should click on the "Login" at the page link
  8. On the next page, the applicant must enter user name and password and click on the “Login” button to access the application.
  9. Applicants should read and accept the terms and conditions of use and click on the “I accept the terms and conditions” button.
  10. Applicants should fill in the application form and upload the required documents.
  11. The applicant will be required to provide details of the proposed company, its directors and shareholders, as well as a choice of name.
  12. Applicant will then be required to make the payment for the incorporation fees. This can be done either by credit card or by direct deposit into the account at the Bank of Mauritius. Applicant can be found fees details from this link
  13. Once all the required information has been provided, applicant must click on the “Submit” button to submit the application.
  14. The applicant will receive an email confirmation of the submission of the application.
  15. Then the applicant can be able to track the status of the applicant’s application in the portal.
  16. Once the application is approved, he/she will receive an email with the Certificate of Incorporation.
  17. Generally, it takes around 1 to 2 weeks to complete the incorporation process.
