Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply to Change Name of a Company in person, the applicant should contact the Attorney General's Office in Mauritius Contact link
  2. The applicant should download the registration form from the respective authority. link or link
  3. Complete the application form correctly and obtain all the required supporting documents and attach the documents to the application form and they can be found under the ‘Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. The Applicant must leave a completed application form on the 2nd Floor of the Attorney General’s Office, Change of Name Section with payment of a processing fee and the fees details can be found under the “Fees” section of this page.
  5. Upon submission of the application, the Applicant will receive a letter from our Office which will inform them of the requirement to give notice of their application in the Gazette and two daily newspapers, at least one of which must be an approved newspaper by the Attorney-General.
  6. Once the application has been assigned to a designated law officer who will enquire into its merits, it may then be forwarded to the police, requesting them to conduct an enquiry in connection with the reasons put forward by the Applicant and thereby allowing for a thorough investigation of the application so that the merits of the application can be properly evaluated.
  7. The law officer, having reviewed the application, will then make a recommendation to the Attorney-General as to whether the application should be accepted or rejected, considering the details and evidence presented in the application.
  8. The Attorney-General, after careful consideration of the matter, will make a final determination and communicate the outcome of the decision to the applicant in a timely manner.
  9. If the Attorney-General's decision is favorable, the applicant will be granted a Certificate of Change of Name issued by the Attorney-General's Office, providing them with a more suitable and accurate representation of their identity.
  10. The Applicant will then publish the change of name in the Gazette and two daily newspapers.
  11. Once the change is registered, a copy of the certificate and the gazette will be forwarded to the applicant.
  12. The processing time for applying to change the name of a company takes about two to four weeks.

  • Copy of the Certificate of Incorporation of the Company
  • Copy of the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Company
  • Copy of the current Directors/ Shareholders Register
  • Letter of Authorization from all the shareholders of the Company
  • Special Resolution to change the name of the company
  • Resolution of the Board of Directors agreeing to the name change
  • Copy of the new company logo
  • Copy of the National Identity Card of all the shareholders and directors of the Company
  • Copy of the affidavit of the change of name
  • Copy of the Certificate of the Business Registration Office confirming the change of name
  • Proof of payment of the necessary fees.
