How to Apply
Online application

  1. Visit the e-work permit website and log in if you already have an account, if you do not have an account click on “Register now” tab Link .
  2. Read carefully through the term and conditions and if you agree to the terms and conditions, select “Agree” option then click on “Application Registration form” tab.
  3. The registration form will then be displayed;
    • Under “Type of applicant “drop box list {select whether you are registering as an Individual, Association, Private Company, etc.} then click on the “Proceed” tab.
    • Applicant details page will then be displayed, please fill in the fields in the form accurately. Fields, marked with an asterisk (*) are compulsory, captcha the security details and then click on “Save and proceed” tab
    • Details of Authorization user of e-work permit portal page will be displayed click on “Click the + (plus) Button to Add More Authorized Users, {if applicable} please fill in the fields in the form accurately. Fields, marked with an asterisk (*) are compulsory then click on “Save and proceed” tab.
    • Documents to be scanned and upload page will be displayed, upload the required documents listed on the site and then click on “Save and proceed” tab
    • Declaration page will be displayed with a summary of your registration application details, enter your passport number, then click on “submit” tab
    • You will then receive an email with further information on how to proceed to complete the registration process.
  4. One of the Directors/designated Authorised Users of the e-Work Permit Portal as provided in the Applicant Registration Form should, within two weeks of the notification issued by the System, call in person and book an appointment with the Employment Division.
  5. On the schedule date the applicant should visit the employment division office with the his/her National Identity Card, original copies of documents you had initial scanned when registering to be verified and sign the Applicant Registration Form.
  6. If all the documents are in order you registration request will be approved by the ministry and a username and password will be issued by email to Authorised Users to enable you to access the e-Work Permit Portal for submitting online applications.
  7. log in with the credentials (email address/password),you will then be automatically directed to the Dashboard section, click on the “Certificate of Exemption”
  8. Fill out the request application form, upload the required documents as listed on the site and then click on “submit “tab.
  9. You will then receive a notification email notifying you that your application has been successfully submitted for verification and processing by the ministry.
  10. Upon approval of the application, the applicant will be notified through the e-Work Permit Portal. The Ministry will then issue a provisional Certificate of Exemption to expatriates who have not yet travelled to Mauritius. Two days after the arrival of the Non-Citizen to Mauritius, Ministries or concerned Departments should collect their Exemption Card at the Ministry.

  • Letter of purpose from the concerned entities containing:
  • Name of foreign employee
  • Occupation
  • Duration of employment
  • A copy of the foreign employee passport
  • 2 Passport Size Photographs
  • Letter from Parent Ministry
  • Authorization letter specifying job title of the person submitting the application + ID Copy
  • Any other document requested for by the ministry of labor.

Need for the DocumentEdit
