  1. Applicants should visit the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority (RSNSA) office. You can view the RSNSA location and contact details via this link: Link
  2. Collect the application form from the RSNSA front desk, or download it via the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority website (Application form for License) or use the link below to download (Application form) .
  3. Fill out the application form accurately, if you encounter any difficult please ask for assistance from the RSNSA staff, or refer to “Application for License Guideline” under (information which may help section below) or contact the RSNSA office.
  4. Submit the completed form along with the supporting documents (listed below), to the Director office to be verified.
  5. If the content of the application form is not filled accurately or there are missing documents your application will not be accepted and will be issued back, for correction.
  6. If the staff at the RSNSA is satisfied that the application file is in order, the application will be forward to the Director/authorized official.
  7. Upon receipt of the applicant file, the Director/authorized official will verify and process it, theRadiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority will then send an inspection team to the facility for an Inspection, examination, investigation and write a report on their finding.
  8. A copy of the report finding will be given to the applicant and if any modification or upgrading is requiredthe inspection team will recommend measures, which should be implemented within a reasonable prescribed delay.
  9. Upon successful implementationof all measures imposed, you will be required to notify the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority in writing.
  10. A follow-up re-inspection will then be conducted by the inspection teamto ascertain the effectiveness of the implementation (where applicable).
  11. If the director/authorized official is satisfies that all the requirements are met as set for the application you will be notified of the approval in writing and issued with the license, upon making payment of the license fee as prescribed by the RSNSA.

Note:

  • Any person aggrieved by any decision of the Authority under this Act may, within 14 days of the date of the decision, appeal to the Minister by lodging with the Director a written notice of appeal together with the grounds of appeal.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • A Safety Assessment Report and should outline the following information clearly;
  • Identify any risk of adverse effects on people and the environment that may be caused by the conduct of the practice.
  • Identify mechanisms to eliminate or mitigate any identified risks which may arise from the practice.
  • Establish protection and safety
  • Measures and the radiation protection programme that shall reduce the likelihood of an incident which may result from the conduct of the practice.
  • Address any other matter that the Authority considers pertinent for the safe and secure conduct of the practice.
  • A copy of the Business Registration Card (BRC).(applicable if the applicant is a registered company in Mauritius)
  • A copy of National Identity Card (applicable if the applicant is a citizens)
  • copies of the first two pages of the passport (applicable if the applicant is a foreigner)
  • Any other additional document request for by the RSNSA.

Note:

  • Public organisations are exempted from this requirement

Need for the DocumentEdit

Section 16 of the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Act 2018 requires every person/organisation /company to hold a licence from the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority (RSNSA) prior to the conduct of any radiation practice, other than an exempted practice.
