Mauritius - Apply for a Meat Shop License

- To apply for a Meat Shop License, you should make your application to the National Agricultural Products Regulatory Office (NAPRO) Under the Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security. You can view NAPRO’s contact details through this NAPRO Contacts.
- Visit the Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security office and obtain the application form for Game Venison Dealer, or download the application form from the ministry’s website through this NAPRO Downloads Find “ Application - Meat Shop”.
- Read and complete the application form accordingly and obtain the required supporting documents as instructed.
- Go to the ministry office and pay the application fee at the cashier window and obtain the payment receipt.
- Upon the payment, submit your complete application along with all the required documents including the payment receipt to the NAPRA department for verification.
- The NAPRO official will assess your application to check if the form is completed as required and if you have provided the necessary documents and all the payments have been made.
- After the verification, the NAPRO official will issue you the acknowledgment receipt of your application.
- Your application will be forwarded to the relevant NAPRO official for processing and NAPRO will schedule an inspection date to visit the meat shop for due diligence.
- On the inspection date, NAPRO inspector will inspect your meat shop to determine if the shop and its equipment meet the required standards.
- The inspector will then forward their inspection report to NAPRO for further assessment.
- NAPRO will review the inspection report and your application and if it is determined that your application and the shop meet all the required standards, the application will be approved.
- Upon approval, the Meat Shop License will be processed and issued to you.

- Trade Certificates
- Food Handlers certificate
- Copy of the Lease agreement (if the meat shop is leased)
- Certificate of Incorporation of Company (if applicable).

Individual/business/companies who wish to operate a butchery/meat shop in Mauritius.
FeesEdit
- Application fee: MUR 200.
- License fee: MUR 300.
ValidityEdit
The license is valid for one year and renewable thereafter.
