Apply In Person

  1. To apply for the business registration card, the applicant should make the application to the Corporate and Business Registration Department which is the Department of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development. Please view the Corporate and Business Registration Department contact details through this Contact Details.
  2. To obtain the application form, the applicant should visit the Corporate and Business Registration Department office and obtain the application form for business registration (Form BRF 1) for Individual registration or form BRF2 for company/commercial partnership or BRF3 for “société” at the reception desk, or the applicant can download the application form directly through this Application Forms.
  3. Read and complete the registration form correctly and a copy of the applicant’s national identification card to the completed form.
  4. Then the applicant should visit the Corporate and Business Registration Department office and pay the registration fee at the cash desk depending on the workforce at the time of the registration as mentioned in the “Fees” section below.
  5. Upon making the requisite fee and obtaining the payment receipt, the applicant should submit the completed registration form along with the payment receipt and a copy of the applicant’s identification card to the business registration service desk.
  6. An official of the Corporate and Business Registration Department will receive the application and verify if the form is completed correctly and check if the payments are made accordingly.
  7. Once the application is verified, the applicant will be issued with the acknowledgment receipt of the application and the Corporate and Business Registration Department official will forward the application to the Registrar of businesses for processing.
  8. The Registrar will assess the application and at this point, the Registrar may request the applicant to furnish more information or documents to complete the application.
  9. Once the Registrar determines that the application meets the required standards, the application will be processed and the Registrar will register the business and business name of the applicant and then allocate a business registration number to the applicant.
  10. Upon registration of the business, the Corporate and Business Registration Department will issue an electronic Business Registration Card to the applicant through his/her email address.
  11. The applicant will then be required to collect the hard copy of the Business Registration Card at the counter of the Corporate and Business Registration Department.


Apply Online

  1. To apply for the business registration card online, the applicant should make the application to the Corporate and Business Registration Department Office using the Companies and Businesses Registration Integrated System (CBRIS) Companies and Businesses Registration Integrated System.
  2. On the website, the applicant should enter his/her user name and password to log in to his/her account. Note that if the applicant doesn’t have an account, then the applicant will have to register with The Mauritius Network Services (MNS) using this online process Online Registration for CBRIS.
  3. Upon the online registration with the Companies and Businesses Registration Integrated System, the applicant will be issued his/her user name and password.
  4. Then the applicant should use the login credentials to login into the Companies and Businesses Registration Integrated System through this Companies and Businesses Registration Integrated System.
  5. On the website, click on the “Business Form” button in the information bar and then select the business registration form.
  6. Complete the selected form by providing the correct information.
  7. Once the form is completed, the applicant should pay the registration fees accordingly using his/her credit card.
  8. Upon making the payment, submit the application for processing.
  9. The applicant will then receive a notice of the application through his/her email address.
  10. The application will be verified and processed by the Corporate and Business Registration Department and forwarded to the Registrar for registration.
  11. The Registrar will assess the application and at this point, the Registrar may request the applicant to furnish more information or documents to complete the application.
  12. Once the Registrar determines that the application meets the required standards, the application will be processed and the Registrar will register the business and business name of the applicant and then allocate a business registration number to the applicant.
  13. Upon registration of the business, the Corporate and Business Registration Department will issue an electronic Business Registration Card to the applicant through his/her email address.
  14. The applicant will then be required to collect the hard copy of the Business Registration Card at the counter of the Corporate and Business Registration Department.

EligibilityEdit

  • Individuals who wish to register a business in Mauritius are eligible to apply.



FeesEdit

The fees are based on the workforce of the business and are as follows:

  • Not more than 10 persons: MUR 125
  • Between 11 and 50 persons: MUR 250
  • Between 51 and 100 persons: MUR 600
  • Above 100 persons: MUR 1,500



ValidityEdit

  • The business registration card is valid for one year and is subject to renewal.
