Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To apply for a Wedding visa, you should make your application to the Passport and Immigration office at the airport upon arrival in Mauritius. Please view the Passport and Immigration office contacts through this Contact details
2. Obtain the application form from the Passport and Immigration office or download the form from the Passport and Immigration website through this Application forms.Please find “APPLICATION TO ENTER MAURITIUS” under “Permit /Wedding Visa”.
3. Complete the application form accurately.
4. Prepare all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the application form.
5. Then submit the complete application form along with all the required documents to the service official at the Passport and Immigration office and pay the relevant wedding visa application fees.
6. The official will verify your application and all the attached documents to confirm if the application is correct and all the required supporting documentation is provided.
7. Then your wedding visa application will be forward to the back office for processing.
8. Upon processing of the visa, you will be issued the wedding visa and allowed entry into Mauritius.
   

Apply for a wedding visa before arrival in Mauritius

1. Residents and Citizens of countries listed in the ninth and eleventh schedules of the Passport Regulations, are required to apply and obtain a wedding visa before traveling to Mauritius to get civilly married to a Citizen of Mauritius.

Required Documents

MALE APPLICANT

• Application form to enter Mauritius filled and signed by the applicant.
• Letter from applicant certifying his intention to marry a citizen of Mauritius including: -
  • Occupation and earning to ensure his financial support to the would-be spouse.
  • Lodging /accommodation facilities.
  • Family status/background.
  • Whether he knows the would-be spouse and for how long they know each other indicating how they got acquainted;
• Two recent passport-size photographs of the applicant.
• Full Birth certificate of the applicant.
• Full certificate of Character or Casier Judiciaire or Certificate of Previous Convictions which should bear the names and forenames of the applicant.
• Copy of valid return passage ticket (where applicable).
• Photocopy of data pages of the valid passport of the applicant.
• Confirmation letter from a citizen of Mauritius certifying intention of civil marriage with the non-citizen and undertaking of responsibilities
• Birth certificate of the citizen of Mauritius and National Identity Card.
• Divorce decree of both parties (where applicable).
• Death certificate of an ex-spouse (where applicable).
• Documentary evidence of the latest financial means of the foreigner at a rate of USD 50 per Day.
  

FEMALE APPLICANT

• Application form to enter Mauritius filled and signed by the applicant.
• Letter from applicant certifying her intention to marry a citizen of Mauritius including:
  • Occupation and earning to ensure his financial support to the would-be spouse.
  • Lodging /accommodation facilities.
  • Family status/background.
  • Whether she knows the would-be spouse and for how long they know each other indicating how they got acquainted;
• Two recent passport-size photographs of the applicant.
• Full Birth certificate of the applicant.
• Full certificate of Character or Casier Judiciaire or Certificate of Previous Convictions which should bear the names and forenames of the applicant.

NOTE

• All documents to be produced in original (official translation is required if not in English or French) and two (2) copies.
• All documents should bear full surname(s), other names, date of birth, and gender of the Applicant.
