Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Subscription to the Personal Radiation Monitoring Service in person, the applicant has to approach the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority (RSNSA) or Radiation Protection Bureau in Mauritius. Location link or Contact link.
- Application form can be downloaded from this online link or the applicant should obtain the application form from the respective department.
- The authority will require the applicant to submit a completed application form, which can be obtained from their website. The applicant will also need to provide details of their medical background, including any past medical history, as well as details of their employment or other activities that may involve exposure to radiation.
- Make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Once the authority has received the applicant application form and all the necessary information, they will contact the applicant to arrange an assessment of their radiation exposure risk level.
- Once the assessment is complete, the authority will advise the applicant whether he/she can apply for a subscription to the service.
- If the applicant is eligible to apply, the authority will then send the applicant a subscription form that the applicant must complete and return to them.
- Once they have received the form, they will contact the applicant to arrange payment of the subscription fee.
- Once the payment has been made and the necessary paperwork has been completed, the authority will provide the applicant with a unique user ID and password that the applicant will use to access the service.
- A fee for this procedure is has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
- The processing time for an application for subscription to the Personal Radiation Monitoring Service in Mauritius is usually within two weeks of receipt of the application.

- Applicant can apply for subscription to the Personal Radiation Monitoring Service in Mauritius by following the steps outlined below:
- Applicant should Visit the Radiation Protection Authority of Mauritius website at link
- Then the applicant Click on the “Services” tab at the top of the homepage.
- Applicant should Select “Radiation Monitoring” from the drop-down menu.
- Applicant should Select “Personal Radiation Monitoring” from the list of services.
- Read through the information provided and click on the “Subscribe Now” button at the bottom of the page.
- Fill in the form with the required information and click “Submit”.
- Make sure to include all the required information and documents in the application package.
- Pay the necessary fee for the subscription, which will be determined after the NNSA reviews the application.
- Once the application has been approved, the NNSA will provide the applicant with the necessary equipment and training for the service.
- After the training is completed, he/she will be issued with a subscription certificate.
- The applicant is now ready to start monitoring radiation levels in his/her area.
- Applicant will be contacted by the Radiation Protection Authority of Mauritius for further instructions.

- Radiographers
- Radiation protection technicians
- Radiotherapy professionals
- Medical physicists
- Nuclear power plant operators
- Nuclear fuel cycle workers
- Nuclear waste workers
- Researchers using radioactive materials
- Medicine students and trainees in the fields of nuclear medicine and radiotherapy
- Any other workers exposed to ionizing radiation in the course of their work.
FeesEdit
- Refundable Deposit for every PRD Badge required – 2000 Rs.
- Issue of a PRD Badge for every monitoring period – 200 Rs.
- Failure to return a PRD Badge – 2000 Rs.
- PRD Badge returned in an irreparably damaged condition - 2000 Rs.
ValidityEdit
The validity for the application for Subscription to the Personal Radiation Monitoring Service in Mauritius is one year. After one year, the subscription needs to be renewed.

- The Personal Radiation Monitoring Service (PRMS) was established by the Services Unit of the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority, in 2012, following the promulgation of the Radiation Protection (Personal Radiation Monitoring Service) Regulations 2012 [GN No. 125 of 2012].
- PRMS is basically for the monitoring of the occupational exposure of workers to ionizing radiation using passive dosimeters. The service is open to all workers potentially exposed to radiation. The technology being used by the RSNSA Services Unit is the Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL).
