Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To renew a jewelry dealer registration, the applicant should make the renewal application to the Ministry of Industrial Development, SMEs, and Cooperatives (Assay Office). Please view the Ministry’s contact details through this link: Contact Details.
2. Visit the Assay office and obtain the application at the receipt of the office or download the renewal form directly through this link: Renewal of Registration Form.
3. Read and complete the renewal form correctly and then gather and prepare all the required supporting documents for the category of the application. i.e, if the applicant is a company or an Individual as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the application form.
4. Then the applicant should visit the Assay office and pay the renewal fee at the cashier’s office as mentioned in the “Fees” section below and obtain the payment receipt.
5. Upon making the payment, submit the application file to the official at the service desk.
6. The Assay officer will verify the application and legibly complete the necessary section of the application form and forward the application for processing.
7. The application will be processed and the applicant will be issued with the renewed certificate of a jewelry dealer.

• Trade Fee Receipt issued by the Local Authority - to deal in jewelry (for Companies).

Validity

A registration certificate is valid for a period not exceeding 3 years as from the date of issue and it is eligible for renewal.

Instructions

If the certificate of registration has expired, the dealer should make an application for renewal at least 10 clear days before the expiry date and if the application is made within 10 clear days after the expiry of the registration, the application will attract a surcharge of 25% of the renewal fee.
