- To apply for the Phytosanitary Certificate, the should make the application to the National Plant Protection Office (NPPO) under the Ministry of Agro Industry and Food Security. Please view the Minisitry’s contact details through this link Contact Details
- Prepare the agricultural products destined for export and obtain the import permit from the country the applicant intend to export to.
- Then the applicant or the applicant’s agent should contact the NPPO for booking of the inspection of the procudct/s. Note that for non-perishable and treated items the applicant should contact the NPPO office at Port-Louis on telephone number: 2428284 and fax: 2404479 and for inspection on the field and packing house for fresh product/s, the applicant should call the NPPO office at Reduit office on telephone number: 464 4872/466 9067 and Fax: 464 4874.
- On the booked date, present the consignment either at the plant quarantine office or arrange for an inspection at the applicant’s premises/packing house. Note that the Transport, Labor, and other facilities for opening, sampling, repacking, etc. shall be borne by the exporter.
- The consignment will be inspected accordingly and in some cases, it will be inspected according to the requirements of the importing country.
- Upon the inspection and review of the required documents, if the plants meet the required standards for export, the Phytosanitary Certificate will be prepared and issued to you as the applicant.

FeesEdit
Fee for the Phytosanitary Certificate:
- Rs 50 for commercial consignments.
- Rs 10 for non-commercial consignments.
