Apply In Person
- To apply for a Foreign Fishing Licence, you should make your application to the Ministry of Blue Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries, and Shipping. Please view the Ministry’s contact information through this link Contact Details.
- Visit the ministry’s office to obtain the application form or you can download the form from the ministry’s website through this link Application Forms (Please scroll down to find “Application for a foreign fishing (foreign boat or vessel)” under Application Forms.
- You can also download the form directly through this link Application form.
- Read and complete the application form accordingly and then obtain all the required supporting documents.
- Attach the required supporting documents to the application form in a single file and visit the ministry’s office to submit your license application.
- At the office make your visit to the Fisheries Planning and Licensing Division and submit your application to the serving officer at the licensing unit.
- The official will verify your application and check if the form is complete correctly and if you have provided all the required supporting documents.
- If the application is correct, proceed and pay the application fee at the cashier and obtain the payment receipt.
- Your application will then be forwarded to the minister’s office for assessment.
- The permanent secretary will evaluate your application and if the application meets the required merits, the application will be approved for licensing.
- You will then be notified of the approval through your contact details and requested to pay the prescribed licensing fee.
- Upon payment of the required licensing fee, you will be issued with the fishing license within seven working days from the date of the payment.

- Certificate of Nationality of the fishing vessel.
- Application for VMS register.
- Copy of Ship Station License.
- Record of a fishing vessel in IOTC active and positive list.
- Confirmation from Argos that VMS data will be transmitted to the Fisheries Monitoring Centre of the Ministry during fishing campaigns.
- Proof of installation of Automatic Identification System (AIS) Class B type for vessels less than 300 Gross registered Tonnage (GRT) and Class A type for vessels more than 300 GRT

FeesEdit
- For a Mauritian purse seiner US $ 30,000 per annum. US $ 7,500 for 90 days and the US $ 2,500 for any additional period of 30 days or part thereof.
- For a Mauritian long liner Rs 1,000 per annum.
- For a Mauritian hand liner Rs 1,000 per annum
- VMS fee the US $ 3,600 per annum. US $ 900 for 90 days and the US $ 300 for any additional period of 30 days or part thereof.

InstructionsEdit
- The master of any foreign fishing boat or foreign fishing vessel or his agent shall, by letter, fax or email, at least 72 hours before entry into port, notify the Permanent Secretary and inform him of the purpose of its call into port, submit to him a copy of the vessel or boat’s authorization to fish, and information on the quantity of fish on board
- Vessels calling at Port Louis should submit their logbooks to the officers of the Port State Control Unit of the Ministry of Fisheries who inspect the vessels upon arrival.
- For vessels not calling at Port Louis, logbooks shall be submitted within 90 days after the expiry of the license.
