Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Extension of Wedding Visa in person, the applicant has to approach the Passport & Immigration Office.
  2. Please view the Passport and Immigration office contact information through this link
  3. Applicants should download the application form from the Passport & Immigration Office portal link
  4. The applicant should complete the application form as required such as name, address, phone number, email etc.
  5. The applicant has to provide all the necessary documents such as birth certificate, proof of residence and passport–sized photographs and they can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant should submit the form along with all the necessary documents to the Passport & Immigration Office.
  7. Applicants should make sure to submit the application form within the stipulated time frame.
  8. The applicant has to present himself/herself at the Passport & Immigration Office for biometric data capture.
  9. The Visa is issued free of charge. There is no processing fee applicable.
  10. The Passport & Immigration Office will review the applicant’s application and make a decision.
  11. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive a notification letter from the Passport & Immigration Office informing him/her of the approval.
  12. The applicant can then proceed to collect the Extension of Wedding Visa from the Passport & Immigration Office.
  13. The applicant should keep the Extension of Wedding Visa in a safe place and renew it annually.
  14. The processing time for an extension of a Wedding Visa in Mauritius is approximately 10 to 15 working days.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED WHEN APPLYING FOR EXTENSION OF WEDDING VISA MALE APPLICANT

  • Completed application form for visa extension;
  • Letter from applicant giving reasons for extension of wedding visa;
  • Two recent passport size photographs of applicant;
  • Full Birth certificate of applicant;
  • Full certificate of character or Casier Judiciaire or Certificate of Previous Convictions which should bear the names and forenames of the applicant;
  • Copy of valid return passage ticket;
  • Photocopy of data pages of valid passport of applicant and of page where arrival stamp of Mauritius is affixed;
  • Confirmation letter from citizen of Mauritius certifying her intention of civil marriage with the non-citizen and undertaking of responsibilities including: -
  • Occupation and earning to ensure his financial support to the would-be spouse;
  • Lodging /accommodation facilities;
  • Family status/background; and
  • Whether he knows the would-be spouse and for how long they know each other indicating how they got acquainted;
  • Birth certificate of citizen of Mauritius + National Identity Card;
  • Divorce decree of both parties (where applicable);
  • Death certificate of ex-spouse (where applicable);
  • Documentary evidence of latest financial means of the foreigner – a rate of USD 50 per day.

  • Completed application form for visa extension;
  • Letter from applicant giving reasons for extension of wedding visa;
  • Two recent passport size photographs of applicant;
  • Full Birth certificate of applicant;
  • Full certificate of character or Casier Judiciaire or Certificate of Previous Convictions which should bear the names and forenames of the applicant;

Note
  • All documents to be produced in original (official translation is required if not in English or French) + two(2) copies,
  • All documents should bear full surname(s), other name(s), date of birth and gender of the Applicant.

EligibilityEdit

  • All foreign nationals wishing to get married in Mauritius are eligible for an Extension of Wedding Visa.
  • To be eligible for the Extension of Wedding Visa, applicants must provide evidence of their marriage, such as a marriage certificate, as well as proof of financial means to support themselves during the visa period.

  • The Visa is issued free of charge. There is no processing fee applicable.



ValidityEdit

  • This visa allows married couples to stay in the country for up to 3 months to 6 months, and to extend their stay if necessary.
