Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Extension of Visa in person, the applicant has to approach the Passport & Immigration Office.
2. Please view the Passport and Immigration office contact information through this link
3. Applicants should download the application form from the Passport & Immigration Office portal link.
4. The applicant should complete the application form as required such as name, address, phone number, email etc.
5. The applicant has to provide all the necessary documents such as birth certificate, proof of residence and passport–sized photographs and they can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant should submit the form along with all the necessary documents to the Passport & Immigration Office.
7. Applicants should make sure to submit the application form within the stipulated time frame.
8. The applicant has to present himself/herself at the Passport & Immigration Office for biometric data capture.
9. The Visa is issued free of charge. There is no processing fee applicable.
10. The Passport & Immigration Office will review the applicant’s application and make a decision.
11. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive a notification letter from the Passport & Immigration Office informing him/her of the approval.
12. The applicant can then proceed to collect the Qualified for an Extension of Visa from the Passport & Immigration Office.
13. The applicant should keep the Extension of Visa in a safe place and renew it annually.
14. The processing time for an extension of a visa in Mauritius takes 5-7 working days.

Required Documents

• Completed application form for visa extension
• Photocopy of the Bio data page of applicant’s passport + Page on which Arrival Stamp has been affixed
• Copy of Ticket reservation
• Upon approval, confirmed ticket should be produced
• Bank statement for the last three months
• Have a confirmed booking for accommodation in Mauritius

If sponsored by a local counterpart, latter to submit:

• A letter of sponsorship stating:
  • Name and address
  • Telephone number
  • Profession and
  • Relationship with the applicant
    • National Identity Card / Copy of passport
    • Utility Bill (CWA/CEB/Telephone Bill)
    • Lease Agreement (where applicable)
    • Bank statement for the last three months

Additional documents:

• For business purposes: Letter from local sponsor/company
• Minors: A consent letter from parents/legal guardian authorizing the extension of stay for the required period together with copy of Birth certificate of applicant and copy of passport of parents
• Any other documents as may be required by this office
