Apply In Person
- To apply for an electricity connection, you should make your application to the Central Electricity Board (CEB). Please view the CEB contact details through this link Contact details
- Visit the CEB office in your location and approach the customer care desk, then express your interest in the electricity connection to the service official at the customer desk.
- You will then be issued with the application form and a checklist of all the required details and documents you should accomplish for the electricity connection. In addition, you will be issued with a specific Business Partner (BP) Number, which you will use whenever you contact the CEB.
- Complete the form and submit your application to the customer service unit of the CEB along with all the required supporting documents.
- Then the CEB technical officers will visit your proposed site for electrification within seven working days of the application.
- In case the Low Voltage network is available and if your load request can be supplied, the Technical Officer will inform you of the works to be done by your qualified electrician.
- Upon completion of the wiring works by your qualified electrician, you will then inform a CEB Customer Service Office in person, by phone, or through a letter, or through e-mail.
- Once the CEB receives your information regarding the completion of the work by your qualified technician, a technical officer from the CEB will revisit your site within seven days to ensure that the wiring work complies with the required standards and the technical officer will also verify the quality of the work.
- If the wiring work complies with the CEB required standards, You will be required to pay for the connection fee, depending on the quoted costs and security deposit at the CEB office, where you will be issued with a receipt.
- Upon payment of the required cost, External works, meter installation, and other essential processes will be done to make sure you can access electricity within ten working days.
Apply Online
- To apply for an electricity connection for a residential building online, you should make your application to the Central Electricity Board (CEB) using the Customer Service Portal through this link Customer Service Portal.
- On the portal enter your credentials i.e. your email address and password to sign in if you already have an account or on the hyperlink “Click here to register!” to create an account.
- The registration form will be displayed, fill it accurately, and captcha the security details then click on the “submit” button to send your registration application.
- An activation email will be sent to the email address you have registered with, open the email and click on the “Activate Account” option.
- You will then be redirected to the CEB portal and click on the “Click here to continue” hyperlink to continue.
- A One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your mobile number. Enter the OTP and then click on the “Confirm OTP” button.
- You will then be redirected to the next page, sign in with your credentials (email address/password).
- Select the "Application" option from your dashboard and then click on the “Create New” button on the right side of your screen.
- The application form will then be displayed, read carefully through it and fill it accurately, upload the required documents as listed on the page and then click on the “submit” button.
- Once your application is received by the CEB, you will receive an email from CEB confirming that your request has been taken into consideration and given further instructions.
- The CEB will then send some of its personnel within 7 working days to the site for an assessment to determine the estimated cost of the layout materials required for the connection and draft an estimated amount/quotation fee and issue it to you.
- You will be required to pay for the connection fee, depending on the quoted costs and security deposit at the CEB office, where you will be issued with a receipt.
- Upon payment of the required cost, External works, meter installation, and other essential processes will be done to make sure you can access electricity within ten working days.

Residential Supply
- National Identity Card of the applicant or Passport ID
- A copy of the applicant's title deed
- Or a copy of a lease agreement, if the applicant is resident on State Land;
- Or a copy of a transcription, if the land has been transcribed to the applicant;
- Or a letter of authorization from the landlord, if the customer is a tenant, as well as a copy of the landlord's title deed
- Building & Land Use Permit for the said premises, wherever applicable
- A list of declared electrical appliances to be connected in Watts (W) or Kilowatts (kW)
- Please Note: If you are occupying the premises as a tenant, the authorization of your landlord is required together with a copy of the latter’s National Identity Card and Title Deed.
Non-residential supply (Commercial /Industrial Purposes).
- A duly signed letter from the company requesting the new supply, specifying the total connected load;
- A list of the declared electrical equipment to be connected in watts or kilowatts;
- A copy of the company’s Business Registration Card together with a copy of its Certificate of Incorporation;
- A copy of the Title Deed in case of ownership of the premises;
- A Letter of Authorization from the landlord or a copy of the Lease Agreement if the customer is a tenant, as well as a copy of the relevant Title Deed;
- A Building and Land Use Permit, wherever applicable;
- In the case of a registered company, a list of shareholders (those holding more than 10 % of shares); and
- National Identity Card of the Director or Passport ID.
- Please note: The CEB reserves the right to request additional document/s as applicable.
