Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Duty Remission on a Motor Car in person, the applicant has to approach the Mauritius Revenue Authority Contact link or Contact link
- The applicant must download the application form from this website link or the applicant can get the application form from the relevant authority.
- The applicant must fill in an application form and submit it along with other relevant documents such as proof of ownership, registration number, insurance and identity documents.
- The applicant has to fill in the relevant application form, which can be found online or at the Mauritius Revenue Authority.
- The applicant must present proof of identity, such as a valid National Identity Card, or a valid passport and they can be found under the “Required Document” section of this page.
- The applicant must also provide supporting documents to prove that the motor car is for their personal use.
- The applicant must submit the completed form, along with all supporting documents, to the Mauritius Revenue Authority.
- The Mauritius Revenue Authority will then assess the application and decide whether the duty remission is granted or not.
- If the duty remission is granted, the applicant will be informed accordingly.
- The applicant has to pay the duty and the remission amount will be refunded.
- A fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
- Once the duty is paid, the applicant will receive a duty remission certificate which will be valid for a period of one year.
- If the duty remission is not granted, the applicant can appeal against the decision.
- Generally, the concession application can take up to six weeks to be processed. The processing time may be shorter or longer depending on the number of applications received and the complexity of the case.

EligibilityEdit
- In Mauritius, individuals who are registered as disabled persons with the Ministry of Social Security are eligible for duty remission on motor cars.
- In addition, individuals with a disability of at least 50% or more, as certified by a doctor, may also be eligible for duty remission.
