Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Customs Registration of Exporters of Scrap Metal in person, the applicant has to approach the Mauritius Revenue Authority Contact link or Contact link
2. The applicant must download the application form from this website link or the applicant can get the application form from the relevant authority.
3. The applicant has to fill in the relevant application form, which can be found online or at the Mauritius Revenue Authority.
4. All the required documents, such as the company registration documents, the company's Memorandum and Articles of Association, proof of address and they can be found under the “Required Document” section of this page.
5. The applicant must submit the duly filled application form along with the documentary evidence to the Mauritius Revenue Authority.
6. Upon submission of the application form, the applicant will be issued a Unique Identification Number (UIN) which will be used for all future transactions with the Mauritius Revenue Authority.
7. The applicant will then have to submit a tax clearance certificate issued by the Mauritius Revenue Authority, along with a Customs Declaration Form and proof of payment of the applicable fees.
8. A fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
9. Upon completion of the payment process, the applicant will be issued a Customs Registration Certificate.
10. The applicant must then submit a signed Scrap Metal Export Declaration Form, accompanied by the relevant supporting documents, such as a copy of the Export License or a copy of the Export Permit.
11. The Mauritius Revenue Authority will then issue a Customs Registration Number to the applicant, which must be quoted on all future export shipments.
12. The applicant must then register the exporter's details on the Mauritius Revenue Authority's.
13. The applicant must then submit a copy of the export documents to the Mauritius Revenue Authority for verification and approval.
14. Once the application is approved, the Customs Registration certificate will be issued, and the applicant can start exporting scrap metal.
15. In general, it can take from 1 to 15 days for the registration process to be completed.
